A strong start to the game

Skills they understand.
Confidence they can build.

Early basketball experiences matter. Junior Lab connects the fundamentals with achievable challenges, individual feedback, and games that help kids enjoy learning.

01 / SHOOTING

Learn a shot that fits their stage.

Work on balance, hand placement, the shooting motion, and follow-through with instruction suited to a young player’s size, strength, and coordination.

The focus: understand how to shoot and what to practice next, with distance adjusted to readiness.

02 / DRIBBLING

Feel more comfortable with the ball.

Build control with both hands, learn to stop and change direction, and practice protecting the ball while moving.

The focus: gain control a step at a time, then use it in a simple challenge or game.

03 / PASSING & FOOTWORK

Build the basics that connect the game.

Practice catching, passing to a teammate, stopping under control, and pivoting. Simple cues help kids understand how their feet and hands work together.

The focus: make a controlled stop, find a teammate, and deliver a useful pass.

04 / LAYUPS & FINISHING

Make the steps to the basket clearer.

Break layups into manageable pieces: approach, footwork, balance, and a controlled finish close to the hoop.

The focus: learn the sequence, build coordination, and keep practicing with encouragement.

How young players learn

Clear steps.

A coach who understands young kids

Coach Matt.
Dad of three boys.

A professional shooting coach, skills trainer, and father of three boys, Matt understands that young players need more than instructions to “shoot better.” They need a clear next step, encouragement, and a chance to experience success.

Over the past five years, Matt has worked with hundreds of developing players and built his own teaching systems. His shooting progressions adapt the fundamentals to a child’s size, strength, and coordination, while skills work helps them become more comfortable playing the game.

The goal: kids who understand what they’re learning, feel proud of their progress, and are excited to come back.
