LIVE ACTION LEARNING.

Most players spend time doing drills. The players who really improve also learn how to apply those skills in real games. Live Action Learning combines focused instruction with coached live play so players can build better fundamentals, recognize real game situations, and learn how to make better reads and decisions when the action is happening for real.

Live Action Learning poster: 30 minutes focused instruction plus 30 minutes live gameplay with coaching

30 MINUTESLIVE, COACHED GAMEPLAY

One hour. Two powerful ways to learn.

Learn it. Then use it.

Players need both teaching and game application. In every session, Coach Matt first teaches the skill with purpose, then coaches players through live action so they can understand when to attack, when to pass, how to create space, and how to make better basketball decisions under pressure.

FIRST 30 MINUTES

Focused instruction with a purpose

Coach Matt teaches the details that matter most in real basketball: shooting, ball handling, pick-and-roll decisions, moving without the ball, cutting, defense, rebounding, spacing, and overall game habits. Players get clear teaching, demonstrations, corrections, and intentional repetitions so they understand not just what to do, but how to do it the right way before play begins.

SECOND 30 MINUTES

Live gameplay with real-time coaching

Then players take those lessons into live, competitive small-sided games. This is where the class really comes to life. Coach Matt coaches on the court as the action unfolds—helping players read the defense, recognize openings, create space, make the right pass or attack, get open, and turn skill work into smarter decisions that carry over to real competition.

The difference is in the decisions

Train for what happens in a game.

A player can look great in a drill and still struggle when the game speeds up. Live Action Learning helps players connect skill work to real competition so they can recognize what the defense is giving them and respond with confidence.

Read the defense

Learn how to recognize pressure, help defenders, driving lanes, and changing opportunities instead of guessing what to do next.

Create better shots

Learn when to attack, how to use spacing, how to create separation, and how to find or create a quality shot.

Make teammates better

Improve timing, passing, cutting, and offensive awareness so players can create advantages for teammates too.

Train with Coach Matt

Coaching that doesn't stop when the drill ends.

When players move into live games, the teaching does not stop. Coach Matt stays engaged on the court, helping players understand the choices they are making in real time—under pressure, against defenders, and alongside teammates. That means the learning becomes more game-like, more practical, and more likely to carry over when it matters most.

The goal isn't just to look better in a drill. It's to become more confident and effective when the game is live.

Good to know

Questions from parents

How is this different from a regular skills class?

Each session combines 30 minutes of focused instruction with 30 minutes of coached live gameplay. Players do not just practice a concept in isolation—they immediately work on applying it against defenders, with teammates, and in the kinds of situations they will actually face in games.
